Explorer Scouts are the senior section of the scouting family, starting from 13½ years through to 18. Our local units are very active – giving these young people plenty of opportunity to be involved in adventure, learning, community and personal development in a fun and relaxed environment specially designed to support them.
Sahara Unit meet at Oughtrington Community Centre and is part of Warrington East District. At the moment this unit consists of Explorer Scouts from Lymm and Oughtrington.
The Antarctic Unit is also part of Warrington East District and has historic links with Thelwall, Grappenhall, Lymm and Oughtrington Scout groups. They meet at Grappenhall.
Both these units meet on Thursday evenings.
Hawk Unit meets at Birchwood on Monday evening, and Harrier Unit at Woolston on Wednesday evening.
The Explorer Units also have some joint meetings, so all the Explorers across the District meet together sometimes.
Mafeking Unit is for all those who are Young Leaders – volunteering to help lead a younger section.
Please contact the Explorer Units through the Warrington East District website for more details.
